Little baby Evelyn was born on the 2nd of May and her parents brought her to my photo studio for newborn photos on the 12th of May, on Mother’s Day. She was exactly 10 days old and just perfect. I was looking forward to this session because her Mum already made the appointment in February.
It was an honour to be able to capture memories for this lovely family.
Evelyn already has two older siblings, a 5 and a half year old sister and a 4 year old brother. They both adore her and it shows on the images.
I especially liked this image below, where Evelyn pulled her arm out of the wrap to hold her brother’s hand.
Their parents were over the moon of course, welcoming their third gorgeous child into the family.
We used the white paper background first and then everyone changed into blue to match the dark grey background. We discussed colours, backgrounds and outfits with the mother at the pre-shoot consultation so we already had a plan for the whole session.
Even Evelyn’s grandparents came to the session and even though they seemed to be shy at first, we have managed to convince them to have at least one image with their newborn granddaughter. This image turned out to be one of my favourites from the session.
Evelyn’s Mum and Grandmother came back with her the following day for images of the baby only. This is how I usually organise my newborn sessions if the family has older siblings. Small children don’t have the patience to stay in the studio for 2 or 3 hours. The other option is that someone takes the children home after they had their photos taken with the baby and the family. Then we focus on the baby only. When the studio is quiet babies are more relaxed too.
The below images turned out to be my – and the family’s – favourites from Evelyn’s individual session.
